Works of Love

This year's United Days will focus on the Hebrew Bible and the many ways it continues to inform us today. In particular, we will celebrate professor Carolyn Pressler at the time of her retirement and honor her significant role as a biblical scholar. Carolyn will talk about her love of teaching, the Hebrew Bible, and what it has been like to inspire and equip students to be leaders in the world.

Members of United's faculty will share how the Hebrew Bible influences them in teaching, preaching, pastoral care, ethics, education, and more. They will reflect on the ways this sacred text can continue to inform and inspire the work of religious leaders today.

During United Days, we will dedicate the main classroom in memory of James B. Nelson, professor emeritus of Christian Ethics. As a teacher, Jim pioneered new avenues of thinking and ethics. Jim’s early voice around human sexuality in particular shaped and prodded the church in significant ways that are still known and celebrated.

Join us on April 27 and 28 for worship, class reunions, a tour of the new campus, a banquet, the distinguished alum award, and more. You will also have the opportunity for an optional visit to see the remodeled campus in New Brighton that now houses Global Academy. We look forward to seeing you.
